Abstract
“If farmers can’t get the fuel they need, they can’t grow the food you need”
Farmers have always grown fuel. One kind of farm fuel is what you call “Food”. Farmers have been growing biofuels for thousands of years. Until 100 years ago, most farmers grew the fuel needed to power their “tractors”, which had four legs instead of four wheels. Some still do today.
Farmers growing fuel is nothing new. Growing and making renewable, sustainable, affordable biofuels to replace fossil fuels is something we already know how to do. This project will help farmers choose plants that are “dual purpose”, meaning they can be used as food or fuel. Peanuts are a good example.
America’s food is currently intertwined with fossil fuels at every step.
